Everything a home library needs

01

Search that finds

Titles, authors, series, genres and even ISBN — instant, even on collections of hundreds of thousands of books.

02

Connect KOReader, Moon+ Reader, PocketBook or any e-reader that speaks OPDS.

04

A single binary or Docker

No external databases. Prebuilt binaries for Linux, Windows and macOS — a server, a home machine, or a NAS.

05

Lists, ratings, recommendations

“Reading now”, “Want to read”, custom lists, ratings — plus personal “For you” and “Continue the series” shelves.

Server

A single binary with the web UI, the reader and OPDS inside. Run it on a server, a home machine or a NAS — or with one Docker command.

$ docker run -d -p 12791:12791 \
    -v polka-data:/data -v ~/books:/books \
    ghcr.io/vestigiumincaligne/polka:latest

Desktop clients

Polka as a desktop app: its own window, its own library. Fully standalone — no server needed; optionally connects to your server with two-way sync.

Installers include the server binary too — the client works completely on its own.

FAQ

Questions & answers

Yes. Polka is open source (MIT): the code lives on GitHub, you deploy it yourself and use it with no subscriptions.
In a regular folder on your disk. Point Polka at it with --library-dir — it builds the catalog on top, moving nothing. Large inpx catalogs work too: hundreds of thousands of books import in about a minute.
Yes: the web UI is mobile-friendly and installs to the home screen as an app, and e-readers can use the OPDS catalog — KOReader, Moon+ Reader, PocketBook and others.
No. Polka is a single binary with no external dependencies: download it and run it. A Docker image exists for those who prefer it.
Everyone gets an account: personal reading progress, lists and ratings. Admin and reader roles. Or run it with no sign-in at all on a trusted home network.
